Project Homeland industrial park near K-7 Highway approved by Shawnee City Council

Shawnee city leaders last month took steps to approve plans for Project Homeland, a proposed industrial park in western Shawnee. Several councilmembers shared their support for the project, saying that once it’s complete, it could produce property tax revenue that may reduce the city’s need to rely on residential property owners for taxes.

Shawnee supports conceptual design of mixed-use development downtown

The Shawnee city council has shared its support for conceptual plans of a mixed-use development on city-owned property downtown.

The council in its Tuesday committee meeting considered design plans by Box Real Estate Development of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, to construct a mixed-use residential and commercial site on about 2 acres of city-owned property on the southeast corner of Nieman and Roger roads.
